Project description:

Project title: Optimal Anticoagulation for Intravascular Catheters: A Comparison of Heparin and Citrate in Preventing Thrombosis and Ensuring Accurate Blood Test Results: The HepCit-study

This study aims to evaluate the potential of low-dose citrate infusion as an alternative to the current standard practice of low-dose heparin infusion for preventing thrombosis in indwelling intravascular catheters. The research will explore the effects of these two anticoagulants on the body’s inflammatory response and hemostasis mechanisms, including their influence on the complement system. Furthermore, the study will assess their impact on key biochemical markers.
