The role of complement and Toll-like receptors in bacteria-induced coagulation and platelet activation.

Bio

Project title: The role of complement and Toll-like receptors in bacteria-induced coagulation and platelet activation.

The interaction between the different cascade systems are important in many diseases and is named thromboinflammation. The platelets are key players with functions both in coagulation and immune system.

The bacteria activate the platelets and induced granula release and aggregation. In this project we will examine the role of complement and contact activation in bacteria-induced platelet activation and aggregation. We have established new methods on Multiplate aggregometry to study this interaction and also use ELISA, flowc ytometric analysis and RNA sequencing.
